Sorrow and remorse… We’ve all been there. It’s what we feel when we come to terms with the fact that our actions have caused great pain to another. Guilt and condemnation are hard task masters. They constantly stand over you striking their piercing whips over and over and over again. You desperately want relief but it is nowhere in sight. You are left yearning for what cannot be. You can never go back and cross over the bridge of regrets to undo what was done.

You are not alone, Beloved. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

We may not be able to go back in time to make right our wrongs, but we can confront them head on which is the first step towards mercy. Scripture tells us to confess our sins, first to one another, then to the Lord for He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins. This cleanses us from all unrighteousness.

As it is, rejoice. Not because you are grieved but because you were grieved into repenting. This is a godly grief that has caused you to suffer no loss for godly grief produces repentance which leads to salvation. There is a holy sincerity that has developed within you. This declares you now innocent in the matter and makes you righteous in the eyes of God.

Jesus shed His blood and offered Himself without blemish which purifies us and enables us to serve the living God. Therefore, whoever is in Christ is a new creation. The old has passed away and, behold, the new you has come.

You have been cleansed from every defilement of body and spirit which brings your holiness to completion in the fear of God. As it now stands, you have wronged no one, you have corrupted no one, you have taken advantage of no one. Therefore, you are free. No more guilt. No more shame. No more regrets. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Praise God.
